JMHS Open House - May 7, 2011

We had a beautiful day for the Farewell to John Marshall
High School Open House. Several thousand toured the buiding and said goodbye
to their alma mater. The school has changed over the years but the memories
remain. Standing in those old classrooms you could just hear the voices
of the teachers who worked so hard to give us a good education. There
were many items for sale to remind us. Several hundred commemorative T-shirts
were sold by the Alumni Association. The History of John Marshall Book
written by Ralph Pfingsten was a big seller. Several presentations of
the school history were given in the auditorium, a part of most every
school that the State of Ohio doesn't feel is necessary any more. The
morning started off with a pancake breakfast; the line was huge. Everyone
wanted to see the underground track, another piece of our educational
experience that won't be part of the new school. The swiming pool will
not be replaced in the new design. The fourth floor band room which was
used for practice for decades was closed off because of the potentional
fire hazard; there is only one way out - down the center stairs.
A big THANK YOU to all the Trustees, Volunteers, Students,
Faculty & School Staff that helped make this Open House a huge SUCCESS!
If you missed the open house you'll enjoy looking
at the pictures. The slide show is an easy way to view them all. You can
pause it, back up or go forward. Just slide your mouse to the lower part
of the screen and the controls will appear. Alternatively you can look
at each photo individually. Right click and Save As to get them onto your
hard drive. At present, John Marshall is scheduled to close after the
2011-2012 school year. Stay tuned to our website for updates.
