| 10/16/2012 JMH School Status Carl Shuler Jr. High School has been expanded to include students displaced due to the closing of John Marshall High School. The expansion looks like an addition onto the building in the area which is to the west of the existing building. This provides a "separate" area for the high school students and it is equipped with classrooms that have current technology features. An Open House was recently held and all areas of the school were open for inspection. Students that were there all said they were very proud of their new school and pledged to keep it in good condition. Meanwhile preparations are underway for the beginning of demolition activity on the old John Marshall High School Building. Work is expected to begin after the football season is over. Bricks from the old school will be available as mementos. We will have more on this after demolition begins.

| 1/8/2009 Hall of Fame Sports Celebration set for May 1st, 2009 The Alumni Association and the JMH Hall of Fame Committee will host an All Class Sports Celebration on Friday, May 1st, 2009, from 6:30-10:30PM at the Saint Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, 3256 Warren Rd., Cleveland. Cost is $15/person. Hors D'oeuvres and Pastries, coffee (regular and decaf), Wash, Soda (Pepsi Products) included. You can BYOB but no bottled beer, only cans permitted. This is a celebration of the great sports years (late 50's, early 60's) at Marshall. All Alumni, Faculty & Staff are invited. Download the Reservation Form.
12/3/2008 New Trustee elected Please welcome newly elected Trustee, Maria (DeLuca) McKee (6/74). Maria has been active with many of our events over the last few years and brings years of experience in working with our schools and programs for the students.

5/8/2008 New Officers and Trustee elected Please welcome our new slate of officers for the 2008-2009 term: President, Ralph Pfingsten 1/58, Vice President Ken Tischer 1/57, Recording Secrtary Joy (Ehrhardt) Brashwitz 6/54, Corresponding Secretary Elaine (Schultz) Staley 6/68 and Treasurer Doug Smorag 6/76. Also please welcome new Trustee, Ray Vorell 6/69. Sadly, we are losing our former President Jim Galler 6/77. Jim is resigning to devote more time to his growing family. Larry Worz 6/50 has also resigned as trustee. Larry and Ted Solarz 6/43 who also recently resigned were conferred the status of "Trustee Emeritus." The By-Laws were changed at a Special Meeting to provide for this special honor. Trustee Emeritus does not have voting privileges.
4/8/2008 New Trustee elected Please welcome newly elected Trustee Doug Smorag 6/76.. Doug replaces Ted Solarz 6/43 who recently resigned. The Board wishes to thank Ted for his many years of service to the Alumni Association. We look forward to his continued participation, complete with patriotic garb, in the Kamm's Corners 4th of July Parade!
1/9/2008 New Trustee elected Please welcome newly elected Trustee Ken Tischler 1/57. Ken replaces Mark Borelli 6/68 who recently resigned. The Board wishes to thank Mark for his contributions to the Alumni Association, especially for his help with the Newsletter.
11/16/2007 Hall of Fame Sports Celebration set for 2009 The JMH Hall of Fame Committee in cooperation with your Alumni Association will be commemorating the fifty year anniversary of the 1959 and 1960 City Football Championships. If you are ever played sports or attended JMH in the late 50's or early 60's, this is an event that you will not want to miss. We also extend this invitation to all Alumnus of JMH along with the Faculty and Staff, both current and past. Details need to be finalized but we plan to have some sort of large celebration party on Friday May 1, 2009.
This History of John Marshall High School is Published The long awaited history book about John Marshall High School, written by Ralph Pfingsten, is available for purchase in our E-STORE! Look for a flyer in the mail or order on line. Check the Events Calendar for details about the November 30th book signing at Puritas Nursery.
7/23/2007 Class of 1968-1972 Mixer September 8th, 2007 It looks like the classes of the late 60's and early 70's are in the party mood. This is their second "mixer" this year! This time, Tim Riha '72, owner of the Upper Deck Sports Cafe, 375 West Bagley Rd., Berea, is sponsoring the event. There is a $2/person cover charge. 7/12/2007 Golf Outing draws closer - August 25th, Saturday Please check the Events Calendar for info on the Golf Outing. You can join us for the dinner at a reduced price if you don't golf. The food is always good.
5/26/2007 ALL CLASS MEMORIAL DAY PICNIC DATE is SUNDAY MAY 28th (not Memorial Day) We have received word from John Salay 6/54 that the All Class Picnic is not on Memorial Day but rather on Sunday, May 27th. Please tell your friends or anyone you might suspect is going that the date has changed from what was in the Newsletter and on this website. We apologize for any inconvenience this error may have caused.
4/26/2007 JMH Class of 1970 Night to Remember, Saturday, May 19th. The class of 1970 is hosting a "Night to Remember" event at Razzles's Bar, 27128 Bagley Road, Olmsted Township. They are inviting the classes of 1968 through 1972 to participate.
3/23/2007 JMH Fall Sports Reverse Raffle There will be a reverse raffle for John Marshall Fall Sports on Friday, March 23 from 6:30 to Midnight at Brennan's Party Center. They would like as many alumni to attend as possible. This is a very fun affair with a buffet meal and an open bar. NO SMOKING! The price of a ticket is $50.00 and it includes the meal, the drinks, and a number for the big raffle which has a grand prize of $1,250.00. There will also be a silent auction and some games of chance and several door prizes given away. If any one is interested in going, pleasecontact Dave Latkovic at 216 534 4421.
2/4/2007 March & April Trustees meeting location Our regular meeting place will be used for church activities during March and April. Therefore we will be meeting at Denny's Restaurant on W150th St. between I-71 and Puritas. All meetings are open to Alumni and Faculty/Staff, past and present. We meet at 7pm.

10/28/2006 Night at the Races Fundraiser Photos A good time was had by all who attended the joint John Marshall / West Tech Alumni Association Night at the Races Fundraiser at St. Mel Hall. Your picture just might be on our PHOTOS page. Thanks to all who came out to support the Alumni Association and a special thanks to all of the volunteers who make events like this possible. If you missed it this year, be sure to put it on your calendar next year!
10/05/2006 Fourth of July Parade & Teachers Oktoberfest Photos It's been a while since we marched in the Kamm's Corners 4th of July parade, but the PHOTOS bring back the memories. This parade is certainly part of our Marshall/West Park heritage. It's a neighborhood parade and that makes it much different than a parade down Euclid Avenue. Marching in this parade is fun and it is our hope that many of you that live in the neighborhood will join us as participants rather than spectators. Look at the smiles in the pictures. Just show up with Marshall colors (check out our Marshall Gear in the E-STORE) and celebrate our Country's Independence!
Then check out the PICTURES from the Retired Teacher's Oktoberfest gathering. It will also bring back memories of your time at Marshall. These are the teachers that prepared us for the future, but they often get little credit for doing so. If you have a story about your favorite teacher, the MESSAGE BOARD might be a good place to share it with your fellow alumni!
